Dear members and friends
On Thursday, the 20th of April we held an inaugural CAISA Regional Breakfast at Pecanwood Estate, co-hosted by GLOVent, Bidvest Protea Coin and AJ van Rensburg Inc. The meeting was very well attended by CAISA members and non-members from the region, and feedback was very positive, encouraging us to take this meeting format on the road, meaning we will be in your neighbourhood in the not too distant future!
We structured the breakfast around a workshop on two issues of great significance to our industry, being a new Industry Blockchain Voting Module developed by DIGITATA and GLOVent, and the Community Schemes Ombud Services Act.
This note particularly focuses on the Industry Blockchain Voting Module.
We are all familiar with the GLOVent Portal, Community Management System and various associated community management tools launched by the company. One of the most recent of these is a Visitor Management Solution fully integrated with the GLO Portal, which has being successfully deployed in a number of communities around the country. Now, together with their technology development holding company DIGITATA, GLOVent has just launched a Blockchain solution for our Residential Community Industry.
The blockchain takes the form of an industry-owned database which will hold a time-stamped and incorruptible record of any information transactions or financial transactions executed by industry members using its technology. The blockchain is held in a number of dispersed versions in linked locations to ensure reliability and incorruptibility.
The Residential Community Industry blockchain has now been launched featuring a new Voting Module as its first functional application. This Voting Module complies with legislation and corporate governance requirements, and is a versatile tool to conduct a wide range of community management and community engagement activities through either a web interface or an integrated cell phone application. These activities can extend from single issue decisions to general meeting multiple issue resolutions, from individual community to industry level. The Voting Module will accommodate and make provision for all of the necessary governance controls to ensure that any vote taken on any issue at any forum will be fully compliant, and fully representative of the participating community, including allowance for absentee and/or proxy voting.
The attached pdf file titled BLOCKCHAIN TECHNOLOGY IN COMMUNITY ASSOCIATION MANAGEMENT will give you an idea of the versatility of the technology in allowing more than just a vote on a single motion. Not only will the technology assist us at community level to manage information and make decisions more efficiently using our digital tools, but it will allow us as an industry, including all stakeholder groups, to collaborate and consolidate our efforts into moulding ourselves into a powerful industry with one face and one voice.
These technology solutions are being offered to the industry through CAISA, and we are proud to make this formal announcement of the launch of the industry blockchain to our members.
The link below reveals that the world is waking up to the role blockchain technology can play in information management. Our own technology partners here in SA, DIGITATA and GLOVent, have however been working on utilising this innovative new technology for the last year, and have been focused on the development of the Voting Module over the last 6 months. This has given us a head start on our global peers, and we as an industry must take the opportunity offered.
Happy reading everyone! PLEASE FEEL FREE TO REVERT WITH ANY QUESTIONS. THE INDUSTRY BLOCKCHAIN IS LIVE, AND IT BELONGS TO US. WE ARE ABLE TO START USING IT IMMEDIATELY!
